Frequently asked questions
What is Out of Pocket?
Out of Pocket is a social card game built for group trips. Cards are dealt at the start and carried in your pocket — played organically across the day whenever someone decides it's time. No board, no turns, no sitting down.
How do you win this game?
There's no winning or losing. Out of Pocket isn't that kind of game. It's designed to create moments — the kind you're still talking about a year later.
How many players do we need?
This game is meant to scale for groups of many sizes. It's best played with at least 4 and can support parties of up to 20. The sweet spot is groups between 8-16.
How long does the game last?
The whole trip. Cards are dealt on day one and the game runs in the background until the last card is played. If dealing the whole deck, most group burn through over the course of a 2-3 days.
What's in the deck?
Every deck includes four card types: Strike, Wildfire, Defense, and Out of Pocket. Strike cards create consequences for a specific player. Wildfire cards pull the whole group in. Defensive cards let you protect yourself, others, or raid someone else's hand. Out of Pocket cards are nuclear tier — two per deck, no defense against them.
Is this appropriate for all ages?
Out of Pocket is designed for adults 21+. Some cards involve drinking and adult situations.
